Current Commitments

Blog-reading is one of my winter pastimes. I like Stephanie Nielson of NieNieDialogues. I admire her courage, her determination, her unashamed commitment to home and family, and, more trivially, her style. Anyhow, I decided to check out her blog again last week and came across a post where she differentiated between goals and commitments, the former being big events and the latter daily undertakings.

I like that distinction and want to use it this year. And the commitments my home could use the most have to do with our mornings. It seems the girls are always scurrying around, barely making it out the door on time with their hair brushed. I have always felt like if I got up a little earlier and got a little exercise and devotional time in before I am needed to help with the kids it will make a difference. And now that I have no nursing babies :( and everyone is (mostly) sleeping through the night, that is looking more doable.

So here are my current commitments:

1. I will wake up at 6am (most) weekdays and start the day with a yoga session.

I need to learn to let my mind be more still.

2. I will read the scriptures daily and work on memorizing a weekly scripture with my minis.

I need more scripture time in my life.
3. I will do morning preschool time with Max and Emily two or three mornings a week.
I am worried my littles are turning into PBS zombies, despite my efforts to attend storytimes and playgroups.
4. I will return to blogging at least a couple times a week and keep a better record of
this beautiful life I am living.

Now to get everyone else on board, so that as I take a step forward, everyone else doesn't get too comfortable and slide backwards.
(Does that happen to anyone else? The more mom tries, the less everyone else does...)
